What are the minimum credit requirements to receive a loan?

Borrowers on Upstart must have a minimum FICO or Vantage score of 550 as reported by a consumer reporting agency. Note, we do accept applicants with insufficient credit history to produce a FICO score.

In addition, there cannot be any material adverse change in your credit report from the time the loan was offered to you and your funding. Material changes include significant drops in your credit score or additional debt obligations. If this occurs, your loan approval will be withdrawn.

We also check to see how much debt you have in comparison to the income you receive.

You must not have any bankruptcies, or public records on your report.

You must also not have on your report any accounts that are currently in collections or delinquent; have amounts that are currently past due.

Your credit score may vary slightly between agencies, but any major differences may indicate an error or misconduct. It is important to get in the habit of checking your credit score at each agency.

Additionally, the credit score DreamSpring receives may be different from the one reported by your credit monitoring services in the event that a credit monitoring service is reporting a score from a different bureau or different scoring method.

These are the minimum credit requirements through the DreamSpring Powered by Upstart offering. If you do not qualify, we encourage you to call DreamSpring at 1-888-534-4775 to discuss our personal review process through which we will evaluate your loan request in more detail.

If you believe there are errors on your credit report, please contact TransUnion.
